Victor's Glass News

Hello! My name is Victor. This blog will contain all of the latest news about glass and my top tips about the installation, maintenance and removal of glass surfaces in your home. I first became interested in the subject of glass a couple of years ago when I asked a contractor to install a new glass splashback in my kitchen. As he worked, he talked about what he was doing and the various ways glass could be used to improve a home. I was hooked. Since then, I have learnt all I can about glass and have had lots of the stuff installed in my home.

Benefits of Frosted Glass Shower Screens

When installing a glass shower, you can customise the enclosure's shape and size. Plus, you can decide how much framing you want. On top of those choices, you need to consider what kind of glass to install. Instead of transparent screens, why not consider frosted panels? Here are some benefits of this type of shower screen.

Light and Privacy

While transparent screens allow light to flow around the bathroom, they don't provide privacy. However, frosted glass creates a more secluded shower area while letting muted light flow through the screens. Thus, frosted panels offer the perfect balance between privacy and brightness. They won't block the light as a shower curtain would.

You can choose the translucency level of the screens to create the perfect balance for your bathroom. For example, opt for slightly frosted screens, which allow more light and less privacy. Otherwise, you could favour privacy and install more opaque screens, which will enable less illumination.

Maintenance

Frosted shower screens don't require excessive maintenance, especially if you install frameless screens. You can simply wipe over the glass with a microfiber cloth or squeegee. Bear in mind that the connections between the framing and the glass form crevices that can collect moisture and mould. So you need to focus on these areas to keep them clean. Because fully-framed showers feature the least hardware, they're easier to clean than fully-framed showers.

Durable

As frosted shower screens use toughened glass, they're highly durable and robust. Toughened safety glass undergoes a unique tempering process where it's rapidly heated and cooled. After this, it's much stronger than the standard glass panes used in a window. Thus, shower screens are unlikely to break. In any case, if they do break, they're designed to crumble into rounded cubes that won't cause any cuts.

Versatile

Frosted screens are versatile in that they harmonise with various decors and styles. You'll have plenty of choices in designs. You can choose a satin look or else a pattern. Pick between geometric lines and shapes or organic flowing lines of waves or raindrops. Neutral, smooth satin screens will coordinate with a wide array of styles, so you'll have no problems remodeling the bathroom in the future in harmony with the shower.

Thus, frosted glass screens offer a range of benefits. They provide a secluded shower area while still creating a light and airy vibe in the bathroom. They're durable and easy to look after. Additionally, you have a wide array of frosting patterns and designs to select from to flatter your space.
